Maintenance / Tree and Brush Programs

Our maintenance employees are responsible for the up-keep of all properties under the jurisdiction of the department, the municipal pool, municipal tree trimming and removals, storm and condemned tree removals and tree plantings. The Maintenance staff are also responsible for the coordination and support of many special events that are held in the city to include Kiddies Day, Annual Lighting of The Christmas Display on Taunton Green and Christmas Parade.

Tree Trimming / Removal Procedures

The Tree Warden is responsible for the care of all trees in city parks, playgrounds and conservation areas. Under the jurisdiction of the Tree Warden, the city will remove or prune any trees which are located on city property or city roadways that are deemed hazardous. Any resident may request a site visit to determine whether a tree is on private or city property.

Storm Emergencies 

The Parks, Cemeteries and Public Grounds Department is responsible to clean up downed trees that have fallen in the roadway/ sidewalk during storms.  Trees that have fallen and have taken down electrical wire should be referred to the TMLP for action.  The TMLP can be reached at   Tel. 508-824-3111


Brush Program

The City of Taunton's roadside brush removal program is administered  by the Department of Public Works Department. Please refer roadside brush removal request to the Department of Public Woks  at Tel. 508-821-1431
