Duties & Responsibilities

- The Sealer of Weights and Measures is a government official responsible for ensuring the accuracy of commercial weighing and measuring devices, such as gasoline meters, home heating truck delivery vehicles, scales, and scanners per Massachusetts General Law. They also inspect and test packaged commodities and all commercially used devices to ensure that transactions are accurate, perform random price verifications, and issue peddler and hawker licenses.
