The purpose of these regulations is to implement licensing procedures and enforce requirements for the maintenance and operation of tanning facilities in the City of Taunton to protect public health and safety.
This Regulation applies to all tanning facilities, except for those facilities having a phototherapy device used by or under the supervision of a licensed physician who is trained in the use of such phototherapy device in which patients are intentionally exposed to ultraviolet radiation for the purpose of treatment of disease by licensed health care professionals.
In the state of Massachusetts, all minors under the age of 17 are not permitted to use a tanning device unless a parent or guardian gives consent in the form of a written statement, signed in front of the tanning device operator, that they have read the warnings associated with indoor tanning.
All tanning facilities in Taunton must be permitted by the Board of Health.
