[ARCHIVED] Textile Recycling State-Mandated Changes

Bay State Textile TPS

In addition to the Commonwealth's waste ban changes regarding mattresses and box springs, starting November 1, 2022 textiles will also be required to be recycled and kept out of the refuse stream.  Taunton Public Schools has been partnering with Bay State Textiles to provide an outlet for textile recycling and fundraise for the City's public school system.

Bay State Textile donation boxes are located outside of each Taunton Public School and accessible for public use.  For every ton of textiles collected, Taunton Schools receives a rebate of $100!   Clean, dry footwear, clothing, accessories, linens, stuffed animals, etc. are acceptable items for recycling.  Visit https://www.baystatetextiles.com for more information about the program or to locate a donation box.

The City of Taunton also has a Bay State Textiles donation box at the Convenience Center at 340 East Britannia.  Residents can go to the City's Convenience Center and donate acceptable textiles for free!  The Convenience Center is open Wednesday 7A - 1P, Friday 7A - 1P, and Saturday 8A - 3P.

Textiles cannot be set out curbside in the City's recycling carts.  For more information regarding textile recycling or the City's solid waste and recycling services, please refer to the City's website https://www.taunton-ma.gov/283/Solid-Waste-Recycling or call the DPW at 508-821-1431.
